Creating content for your business is important. But you need to be smart when it comes to content creation otherwise it becomes a chore. And how much should you be creating? The more regularly you show up in front of your target audience with relevant content the more you will grow your visibility and increase sales.
The CMI’s digital content marketing stats show that 72% of marketers say content marketing increases engagement. In addition, 72% say it has increased the number of leads. So how much content should you be creating and how can you be smarter? Let me share my strategy that allows you to create as much content are you need.
Choose a theme
I find it much easier if my content follows a theme so I have around half a dozen themes that I rotate through my content. The great thing about using this strategy is that you can choose any topic you like relating to your theme so you should have a plentiful supply of topics.
Use hero copy as your starting point
Creating an extended piece of copy on your themes gives you all the content you need for social media platforms, emails and more. I use my blog as my long-form copy and typically create around 500 words each week and then my other content stems from that be it quotes, top tips, how-to lists, advice, insight and more.
How much content should you be creating?
The above two tips give you a good starting point for your content. They save you panicking each day thinking what can I post or what does my audience want to hear from me as you have your prepared treasure trove ready to go.
In terms of how much it should be what’s manageable. Don’t bite off more than you can chew. If you’re just starting out for social media just go for one platform. Here’s a guideline I’ve put together for you:
- Social Media – aim for at least one post per day
- Emails – aim for one email to your list per week
- Blogs – a minimum of two posts per month but more if you can manage it
Content is such an important part of your business growth. You need to create valuable content that resonates with your audience and maintain it to stay visible in front of your audience.
